Voice of Grace

Voice of Grace
1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me"

Many men are a product of their labour. To make a singular progress they labour. They labour very hard to see any good thing happen for them. Many sweat and toil for every singular increase in their lives. Their story is as prophesied in Genesis by God that “By the sweat of your brow you will eat” Genesis 3: 19a. And so they labour hard. It was not so from the beginning. Until the sin of Adam, the commandment of God was for man to eat from the fruits of the garden and then tend it.

When you see some men recording a win, it is after multitudes of battles. Their life is a tale of battles. Their existence is a chronicle of wars. To get admission they warred. To get a job they battled. To find a spouse it only happened after several years of waiting. I pray for you dear reader of this piece right now whose entire life has been a chronicle of battles, may these unending episodes of battle come to an end in your life this month in Jesus name.

See, friend, battle is not a good thing. It wears out a man. Too many battles delay your joy. When a man lives a life of battles, his existence is then marked by several moments of anxiety, unhappiness and instability. Even when you always triumph, too many battles will make your life a battlefield. On the battlefield there is hardly ever rest. You can never enjoy life living that way. A “battle-full” life will always be a sub-optimal life. In 1 Pet 5: 10 Apostle Peter says “After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you”

The opposite of labour and battles is favour or Grace. For instance, in place of having to fight battles the Lord can fight for you as He did for the Children of Israel. The children of Israel were so afraid of the oncoming war of the Egyptians that they now prefer their previous enslavement. In their complaint to Moses who had brought them to the desert as they face an impending invasion by the enemies they said “Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Ex 14: 12-14)
This was the voice of grace speaking unto the children of Israel. It reassured them that God would fight in their stead. Imagine for a moment, if every past battles of your life, God had to fight it such that you never lift a finger again, what would it look like? I pray for you dear reader that in the place of battles, labour and struggle, grace would speak for you starting from today.

After the Kingship of Saul, the house of Saul was now deserted. As the Bible says “the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him; To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba. (2 sam 3: 81- 10). The House of Saul was now empty as almost all of the sons of Saul had been slain. Then suddenly, the same man whom Saul sought to kill - David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Again, that is the voice of Grace speaking. When Grace speaks people who were asked to implement your fall will show you the way of escape. People who have declared themselves your enemy will curry your favour. I pray for you today dear reader, the very men who have once sought your shame and reproach God will compel them to announce your favour.
This was the story of Mordecai.
Haman was Prime Minister to King Ahasuerus. He plotted to have the Jews that were in captivity killed. He had a special grudge against Mordecai, because he refused to bow to him as per an order of the king.
Mordecai had once saved the king's life by exposing a plot to kill him. He was not honored at that time. As time went by, the king forgot about what he had done. Haman had a 50 cubit (75 feet) gallows built on which he intended to hang Mordecai. The night before Haman intended to have Mordecai hung, the king could not sleep and he started reading records of the history of his time as king. In doing so, he found the account of how Mordecai had saved his life. The next morning he asked his servants what sort of reward had been given to Mordecai. He was told “nothing”. Now the person that was asked to suggest the honor was now Hamman. The King asked Hamman ‘What kind of honor should be given to a man in whom the king delight”? Hamman thought “now, the king must be really delighted with me. Or who else would he be intending to honor other than me”. Hamman made such an incredible suggestion. He says…
“For the man the king delights to honor, do this: Bring a royal robe that the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, one with a royal crown on its head. Then give the robe and the horse to one of the king’s most noble princes. Have him robe the man whom the king especially wants to honor; have the prince lead him on horseback through the city square, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man whom the king especially wants to honor!’” “Go and do it,” the king said to Haman. “Don’t waste another minute. Take the robe and horse and do what you have proposed to Mordecai the Jew who sits at the King’s Gate(Est 6: 7-10)

Interestingly, it was Hamman who was now made to lead Mordecai on horseback proclaiming the glory of the man- someone he intended to kill the next morning. Interestingly, the same Hamman was eventually hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. How powerful it is when Grace speaks- voice of Grace! Grace wakes every assigned helper in the middle of the night that they would lose sleep until they render the help that the Lord has ordained. The voice of Grace.

Grace makes the guarantee of honor in the place of shame. Grace guarantees a substitute that men are given in your stead even in the kingdom of death. Grace! I pray for you dear reader, in your life and concerning every affairs of your life this year, Grace will speak. Favour will not be silent. I pray for you dear reader, this year where men have planned to disgrace you Grace will show up for you. In the place if dishonor, you will have honor.
This was the story of Mordecai. In May, it shall be your own story also.

Happy new month
